"In this step, we will be laying out the quilt. Now if you remember back a few steps ago, we did the diagram on graph paper. This is the very important part of the quilt when we need this diagram because we are going to follow it very closely. We made little tags that have A, B, C and all the way through to O because we have 15 rows across the top and they go all the way to O. And we've made little tags that begin with 1 and go through 30. So we can identify each row. We are beginning to lay out the quilt. Across the top of the quilt, we are going to put the A, B, C, and D indicators so it tells us exactly which row we are working with. And next we will lay the numbers down beginning to the left and a little bit below the A, we start with number 1 and lay the numbers all the way out until we get to 30. Okay, so first we are laying out the backing pieces. Now, keep in mind, that the back of the quilt will be on the underside. So if you have a right side and wrong side to your fabric, you need to place the right side down. Once you get the backing down, next step is to put the filler down. The filler can be either up or down if you have a right side or wrong side. It doesn't matter because it will be actually in the middle sandwiched between the backing fabric and the denim. Following the diagram now, we can put the denim down. And the denim goes right side up because this is the top of our quilt. So the diagram starts with the dark denim. We'll put that first. Then we will put a light medium. After the light medium, we will put the light and then a dark medium. And then that pattern is repeated again. If you look at the pattern forming now, you see the darks in a diagonal row and this is going to continue for all the different colors of the fabric, of the denim."
