"YOLANDA VANVEEN: Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen on behalf of Expert Village. In this series, we're learning all about fall-blooming flower bulbs, and if you've got fall-blooming bulbs, you have to have Canna lilies. And another one of my favorite Canna lilies is the Canna Pretoria, also known as Bengal Tiger. One of my favorite Canna lilies is Pretoria, also known as Bengal Tiger because it has yellow stripes all over it. And the bulb is just a tuber. It looks kind of like a big wad of mud, but it actually is alive. So the plant growth comes out of the ends. So when I plant it, there's really no up or down; it's sideways. So I'd make sure and plant it so that the ends are exposed in a full, hot sunny spot about 3 or 4 inches deep, and full, hot sun is the key. It has to be hot to grow. They get 5, 6, 7 feet tall with gorgeous orange blooms on 'em, and the foliage is just to die for, and until our first heavy freeze, they look good. So if you're looking for a tropical addition to your garden, Canna Pretoria is your key."
