"YOLANDA VANVEEN: Hi, this is Yolanda Vanveen on behalf of Expert Village. In this series, we're going to learn about fall-blooming flower bulbs. And our first bulb that we're going to talk about is the Nerine or Nerine. It's a beautiful plant from South Africa where it grows in the mountain, so it's very hardy. It'll grow even in England. That's where I was--I first found them in England and they were in bloom everywhere in the fall. And I love 'em because the greenery comes up in the summer and dies back, and then the blooms come up in the fall, look like a cobra coming out of the ground with the beautiful pink flowers that last a month or two. They're one of my favorite plants. And the bulbs are like an amaryllis bulb. They're related to amaryllis and they look almost like a Hershey's Kiss candy, so when you plant 'em, you plant 'em with the tip side up, and their more--the bigger side down, and I plant about 3 inches deep, not much deeper than that. And they like to be in groups; they need to be really crowded to bloom well. So I like to plant at least three, five, six in one group, very close together to start, and that way you'll get blooms in the fall right away the first year.
