"Oxalis is a great South African plant. They almost make a ground cover they are just really short only 3"-6" tall. They multiply pretty well shamrock is actually an oxalis so they are really easy to grow and they are really pretty plants. When I saw them in South Africa they were growing wild all over the gardens, they are like a brown color it comes up from the grass. There is a tiny little bulb that looks like a little Hershey's candy so the tip goes up about 3" deep and as much sun as you can give them. They do get a little bit of a shade as well but they are beautiful pink flowers and this variety has gorgeous green foliage with a little bit of burgundy on the foliage. Oxalis are really a pretty plant and they are very easy to grow, they grow almost anywhere. They like to grow in containers or the ground to either way and again if we have a hard winter in the northwest sometimes we loose them. But they are very inexpensive so I got to the point if I'm only loosing them one in ten years oh well, I can always replace them. I enjoy them so much that they are just an easy South African plant to grow. Next, we'll talk about a South African plant that you have to have sparaxis."
