Video Transcript

"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Terry. I am here today to show you the workings of a forge. Here you have tongs for working with your forge. You will notice that this one has a grove in it, for working small wires and small rods. When you move up, this one has a larger grove for working with larger rods or wires. Then, this one here is for even bigger appliances. You could even slide pipe through the jaws of these tongs here. You need to have a good set of 3 or 4 tongs for you to work with, cause the tongs will get hot too and you will need to switch now and again. You will need some ball peen hammers. This is a 2 1/2 - 3 lbs hammer right here, it's good for really getting in there and working. It's not as round, it's flat. So it would not be as good to use in these balls, as it would be to pound something flat or curved. Now a ball peen head will fit right in there. You can make some nice little cups or cones that look like rivet heads. Use a ball peen in either one of these to pound out a bowl or a cup. It is always nice to have a little one for doing small pin, and the larger ones for the larger and thicker metals."
