"VICTOR FEGHALI: Hi. This is Victor for ExpertVillage.com, and we are here at Foothill Carpet to show you how to buy carpet for your home. One of the most important things you do after the carpet has been installed is regular vacuuming, and the more you vacuum that carpet, the longer it's going to last because it takes 17 steps to wipe the bottom of your shoes when you walk into the house, and you leave a lot of little particles in that carpet. And the next time you walk on it, if they're still in the carpet, you're going to break those fibers down and it's going to start loosening that twist on the carpet, and then the carpet is going to look flat and matted down. So obviously, the more you vacuum, the cleaner that surface is going to stay and the longer the carpet would last, so regular vacuuming even in heavy areas once a day. Some people think I shouldn't vacuum the carpet a lot, that's not true. The more you vacuum, the better for it. And obviously if something spills on the carpet, treat it the proper way and use proper instructions on how to take care of the stain, and you'll have a clean carpet for many years."
