Series Summary

Carpets and rugs have been around for centuries, covering the floors and hearths of houses from the 2nd and 3rd centuries B.C. The term carpet refers to a woven, or felted textile, and can come in many varieties of textures and colors. Carpeting often fits throughout a room, going from wall to wall, however some carpets and rugs are simply laid on the floor without any permanent affixing to the floor. Though the words, carpet, rug, and carpeting are often used interchangeable, in home renovation and real estate there is some distinguishing between the phrases.

Placing carpets in your home can be a huge project and add a dramatic change to the home décor, so deciding to buy carpeting is a big choice. In this free video series, our expert will take you through the steps for picking and buying a carpet. Learn important tips like, what styles of carpet are available, how much does carpeting cost, and what carpet is best for high traffic areas. Get advice on picking carpet density and patterns, choosing an area rug, and finding the right carpet for your needs and style. This if video is a must watch for anyone building or renovating a house, or simply looking for a change in home style.
