"Hi, my name is Wes on behalf of ExpertVillage.com and in this video segment I am going to show you how to place your base layer inside of your terrarium and how to cut your substrate divider so that it fits your terrarium. If you want to know more about terrariums and tropical plants you can visit our website at equilibriocarnivorousplants.com. So after you select the kind of material that you want to use for your base layer, you want to place it inside of your terrarium. Here we selected these cocoa beads which are clay pellets and we are going to dump them inside of the terrarium. We want the depth of these beads to be about an inch or inch and half deep. We want to level them off. It does not have to be exact. So after we have beads inside we want to make a divider so that the soil we place on top of it won’t get down inside of the base layer. The best kind of divider is just a simple screen. You can measure by placing the screen on top of the terrarium and just simply making a cut out of it from here. After we have the cut out roughly the size of the bottom of the terrarium you just want to place it inside and press it down. Now we have the base layer complete. "
