"WILLIAM HUTCHINSON: The Pleurothallids are another one of the groups of orchids from the high mountains of Central and South America, and some of the flowers on these are so remarkable, they are almost unbelievable when you see them in flower. They are one of the largest group of orchids and they are still being evaluated to see if the group is going to be divided, and we have two different forms here. One in flower and one in bud aligned with several keikies in the axis of the leaf. Remember the keiki we had said earlier was a little baby plant. You can pull it off and grow a full size plant from it. It is very common and the diversity of form throughout the range it grows in, and the color goes from the pale green that we see here into bright orange reds, which will occur on the spring flowering months.
