"On campfires, check with your local fire department or county office to find out if there’s a burn ban going on this time a year. If there’s a burn ban going on that’s because it’s too dry out, possibly too windy, for you to have a campfire. If you’re going to have a campfire out while you’re camping, make sure that you have a fire ring or rocks built up around it, at least three feet of dead grass and leaves that are raked up to have it in case it decides to spread or it decides to come over the ring, then it will not catch those on fire. State parks will usually have a designated fire area for you to have ground fires. Check with the front office and they’ll let you know if they’re allowing ground fires or not during the burn ban."
