Examples of Wood Stains

"In this clip we're going to look at some different color stains on various woods. Sort of a sampler of stain colors. Now, here we're looking at Golden Oak stain on a piece of Birch plywood. In fact these are all, three of these are on Birch plywood. There's Dark Walnut, you can see the different characteristics of the different stains. I'm going to pull back and you can see how different they all three look on the same piece of wood. So you can definitely get the idea that the combination of staining and clear coating, you can definitely do a lot of different things with the same piece of wood. Here's a Cherry stain, on Birch plywood, let's compare that to a Red Mahogany, very, very different, as you can see a distinct difference. And a Special Walnut. Let's pull back and you can again compare and contrast. Very, very different. Here you can see both sample pieces along side of each other. It's just a rainbow of possibilities out there for stains. It's just, one isn't better than another, it's just a question of what works best for you and helps you achieve the look you're trying to achieve. Here are some variations on Oak staining. Ipswich Pine, Colonial Maple, and Golden Oak. Again, you know, it's a good idea to lay out several samples of stain on one piece of wood to get an idea of what the finished piece is going to look like. And again, as always, there's no right or wrong, it's just what looks best to you. "
