"Okay so the first part of our painting the kitchen project is we're going to do an overview of all the tools that we're going to need. And what I have here is a couple rollers. This is going to be for painting the walls and the bigger areas and for kitchens there's a lot of little small areas that it's good to have another small roller with you. The roller cover. I use a semi smooth roller cover. We have our brushes. Today I'm using 2 inch angled sash brushes. That just means that it's 2 inches and it's angled so it's easier to get into the different grooves and details. We have painters tape. It comes in all different sizes. I have a couple different variations. It's a non stick. You want to use blue non stick tape so that it wont peel off the surfaces too much. We have some gloves for your hands so you wont get too much of a mess. I have a caulking gun. This is a lightweight plastic caulking gun that I like to use. And over here we have an assortment of putty knives. Different sizes. This is for spackling the walls. And they come in all different sizes for different purposes. Here's a scraper in case I have to scrape off any flaking paint or any areas like that. This is an all purpose tool. This is a kind of tool that a painter likes to have in his pocket at all times because it's good for many different function including scraping, hammering and a lot of other useful things. So it's good to have this by you at all times. Another thing you want to have by you at all times is a razor knife because it's going to come in really handy. You're going to want to cut things like masking and drop cloths. So these two things are in your pocket. We have a series of screwdrivers for removing switch plate covers. This is our sanding area. We have a couple of different types of sanders. This is a hand sander. It's just a sanding block. And this is a pole sander which is good for going around the whole room really fast. And I have this pole which is an extension pole. You can use a broom pole. If you have a broom in your house you can just screw that off and use that. As you pull? I do this a lot so I like to have one of these handy. I also like to have a dust mask for heavy sanding because we don't want to breathe into all that dust. And we have our roller tray which is what we're going to put the paint in for our roller. And for brushing we're going to be using a cup so that I don't work right out of the can so that I'm not dipping the brush in and maybe getting contaminants on the brush and then putting them back into the paint. Which would give it flakes and ruin our finish. So we have some sort of plastic cup. And for cleanup I like to have a couple things handy like a brush and dustpan and maybe a little small vacuum for getting up some of the dust and debris. Of course a drop cloth to protect any surface that's not going to be painted like the floor. And for other surfaces, to protect, I like to have plastic drop cloths. These come in little rolls in different thicknesses. You want to have a step ladder to get to high places. Okay so that's an overview of the tools that you're going to need. Next I'm going to explain some of the materials including the paint."
