Have you ever sat down on a bar stool in your kitchen, walls covered with pastel wallpaper peeling on the edges from water stain and mildew, while the lime green exterior wall glares through the window and the reflection of the burnt orange accent wall behind you (that seemed like such a good idea 20 years ago) reflects in your 13-inch TV screen and thought...maybe its time to paint the house? "My name is Michael Stewart. I'm a professional House Painter. Today I'm going to show you how to paint the kitchen. As you see, we have a standard size kitchen here. It's about 12 x 10, 8 foot drop ceilings. It's an older house, so there's a lot of unique carpentry details and there's a lot of brush work, which is pretty common for kitchens. So, for our purposes here today, we're not going to paint the entire kitchen, but we are going to focus mainly in this area over here, because it gives us an opportunity to show how we're going to treat each surface. I'll show you how to paint the wall, how to paint the trim, and how to handle the different, interesting areas that are around the counter tops and the cabinets. Which is standard for kitchens. So, the two main reasons for painting a room obviously, is to change a color, which we have quite an interesting color as you can see and to refresh the surfaces. What we picked today is a nice gray and we're going to treat the trim and the walls the same. It's going to be gray on gray, and we picked a pearl finish, which is a moderately shiny gloss, which is going to stand up to a lot of the wear and tear, and washing and scrubbing that's common for kitchens. And the other reason for painting is to refresh the surfaces from all the wear and tear that occurs over the years. You can see some of that happening here right now. So, let's begin."
