" Hello! My name is Mac. On behalf of expertvillage.com, I am here to continue our discussion on the processes of arc welding. The different types of arc welding that are done commercially in North America today are as follows. This welding machine here is a multi-process machine, which means it can do many of the different commercial welding processes. For instance this is the equipment for shielded metal arc welding. This is a welding electrode and it is placed in an electrode holder that is commonly called stick welding. This is one type of welding. One of the other types that this machine is capable of is with a flip of a switch, we can do MIG welding with this apparatus, this is a MIG gun, Metal Inert Gas welding. We can change the wire that comes out of here and put in a flux-core wire and do flux-core welding, very much like MIG welding, basically the same process. This machine is also capable of doing TIG welding. It can be hooked up to do arc gouging. This is a multi-process machine and there are many different types of arc welding that can be accomplished. We will begin later to discuss specifically, the shielded metal arc welding process or stick welding as it is commonly referred to."
