"Hi! My name is Matthew Christian from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village, we are going to talk about the proper use of a hammer drill. As I mentioned earlier, this particular model impact drill or hammer drill, has a feature that allows you to turn off the hammer feature. If we were drilling through wood, we wouldn't necessarily need the hammer feature, but drilling through concrete we would. But this has a switch to either turn the hammer feature on and off and it is just quite simply hammer feature off and hammer on. To reiterate, the hammer feature is used when drilling through concrete. With a hammer feature on as the drill bit turns, it is also going back and forth in a hammer like fashion or hammer action and this helps drill through concrete much faster. If you were drilling through wood, plastic or metal, it is suggested that you turn the hammer feature off and the drill bit simply turns. "
