How to Mix Gas for a High Limb Chainsaw

"Hi! My name is Matthew Christian from Tampa, Florida and on behalf of Expert Village, today I would like to talk to you about how to properly use and maintain a high limb chainsaw. Most yard tools or power lawn tools that are gas are two cycle meaning that there are two strokes per cycle. In this case, the oil is not kept in the crank case to help lubricate the engine. The oil is actually added to the gas or to the fuel. As the fuel goes through, the combustion chamber and the gear box where the crank case is, the oil and the gas provides a lucubration in that way. Most tools we will recommend a 50 to 1 ratio from gas to oil. So 50 parts of gasoline to one part of oil. Typically one part oil to 1 gallons of gas. It is also a good idea to have two separate containers for your gas. One of just gasoline for your lawnmower and what not. Have a separate container for your gas and oil mixture and label them as such so that you don't get them confused. You don't want to put the oil mixture in a machine like your lawn mower that doesn't require it. It wouldn't be good for it and you certainly wouldn't want to use just gas in a two cycled engine that requires oil being mixed with it because it would damage the machine. So keep two separate containers; one for your oil mix and one for just plain gasoline. "
