"Now we're going to pin the zipper to that seam allowance that we pressed outward. And then we'll be sewing it on next. So you want to take your zipper and lay it face down along the seam between these two seam allowances. And the zipper teeth are going to lay right along that seam between the two seam allowances. And you pin it just to the one seam allowance that is hanging out here, okay? So we have our two layers of fabric. We have one seam allowance here and then one seam allowance that's been pressed out and we're pinning our zipper, the edge of the zipper, to the single seam allowance that is sticking out. And the teeth will lay along the seam between the two seam allowances. Okay we pinned our zipper to that seam allowance. Now we're going to baste it on. You want to switch your sewing foot to a zipper foot and make sure you adjust your needle if you need to adjust your needle. And then we'll just set that on to a basting stitch. And baste right along that single seam allowance that you've pinned the edge of the zipper to. And remove your pins as you go. And that will hold the zipper in place so that we can do the top stitching. Now back at the ironing board we're going to, we've basted our zipper to the edge of that seam allowance, now we'll open up the seam here and press it flat. Make sure that your zipper is laying flat along the seam allowance and flip it over and just press that seam allowance nice and flat."
