"I’m Lee Wallace. I have a degree in architecture, I have about ten years construction experience in the field, and today we’re going to replace the door trim. The door’s already been replaced and we have this old trim on here, some of it which has built up a lot of paint over the years. What we want to do is just begin by taking off the old trim, and let me show you how to do that. What you want to do first is you want to cut along the trim edge on both sides, and you make sure you cut all the way through all the old caulking, because you don’t want to peel back the wall all the way, especially when you have years of paint- just cut it like that. And then your going to pry it off- just get yourself a flat bar and hammer. It should come off fairly easy, if you cut all the way through the trim. And just continue all the way up the door until you have all the trim off. And don’t forget to remove any nails that are coming from the door frame or the wall. And when you pull out the ones in the wall, you want to pry from the door frame, so you don’t punch a hole in the door. If it doesn’t come out, the easiest thing to do is just bend it over, but make sure it’s below the surface of the wall."
