"Hi! I'm Lori for expertvillage.com and today we're at Archibald Flowers, and we're going to talk about how to purchase flowers. One of the questions that someone always asks me is how do I make my flowers last longer. Well the most important thing about keeping your flowers fresh is that flowers being that they are living things, they will form bacteria in the container of in the vase that they're in. The most important thing is to keep your water level high all the way to the top of the vase, and also make sure that it's clean. Now, we do always provide flower preservative in the water when we make an arrangement, and a lot of times will include extra flower packets of food to continue for your arrangements. The best part is that if you don't have that you can always just make sure that the water is very clean by dumping the water, putting fresh water in, not adding clean water to dirty water. All of the old wives tails about aspirin in the water, 7up, or a little bit of bleach. All of those are true. They're not wives tails, but what they do is that they purify the water do is that they purify the water, keep the water clean so that the flowers will continue to drink. "
