Hi, this is Jon and in this clip we'll be talking about the woodworkers' bench and vice. Now out of all of the accessories, you can buy for wood shop, one of the most important and necessary accessories is just standard woodworkers' bench with vices. Now, when choosing a bench, you want to make sure that the top is very thick. This is going to add to the stability of your work bench. Now one of the reasons you want to be so thick is that as you work you're going to get hits and nicks in the work bench and because it's so thick, you can sand it down and you can refinish the top of it and make it smooth again. Additionally, you want to make sure that the top of your bench is make of some type of hard wood like a maple. This is going to really add to the durability of your bench. Additionally, you want to make sure that the base of your bench is very secure. If I try to shake this bench, it not going to go anywhere and lastly you want to make sure that you have at least a couple of good vices that are attach to your work bench. This is really going to aid and securing your piece of stock or your project that you're working on. Now, on these vices, you'll notice that we've attached some lumber just some scrap pieces of wood to the metal vice itself. So, that when we clamp down our project or our piece of stock we're working on, it's not going to damage that piece of wood as if just the metal were there.
