How to use Mulch for Gardenias

"Hello! My name is Jose Zuniga and I am representing expertvillage.com. Well we've planted our gardenias already which is great and now we are ready to mulch. As you can see, I've started already on this part. I am going to show you how to do this. First of all there are several types of mulch. I for one prefer this one, a little bit bigger. It is almost like the size of a rock. They have a bigger size as well. They also have the one that is real shredded. I particularly enjoy this one; for one it is more beautiful. It is going to display much better on your flower bed. The one that is shredded, every time that it rains it is going to disappear, it's going to wash off. I don't want that. Another thing to keep in mind is always have a border. As you can see right here, my borders that I have are the bricks. Look how beautiful this is. This is a medium size mulch. This is beautiful and it is going to help maintain the moisture that we need for gardenias. What you are going to do is be generous with it, just all around the plant. There we go, all around. Tons of it everywhere. What you need to do is when you get to the center, be sure you cone it and the reason we are doing it is because the water is going to hold much better there, the moisture from the mulch is going to maintain all around the plant and that is exactly what we need. We need to maintain the moisture. What we need to do is probably every 3rd month or so, add a little bit more and always have an edger so that when you water or there is plenty of rain, it doesn't just disappear.
