on 8/21/2008 If the outlet was dead, an electrician should remove it and remove the wires. This should have been checked and done before the wall went up. It's still a fire hazard. Good thing you're not covering it up.

Also, what's going on with the irregular drywall screws? Keep it clean, 16" to the stud, straight down every 12", and offset the screws in the Homasote and Sheetrock by 6" so you don't screw into a screw.
