Video Transcript

" Hi! This is John on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip, I will be answering the question what is a ball valve. A ball valve that has been already installed looks like this. It will go between two pieces of pipe, and it will either allow or restrict the flow of water. The way that it allows and restricts the flow of water is if you turn the handle, it will restrict it. If you turn it to go with the pipe, it will open up and allow the flow of water. We are going to install this ball valve. If you take a look in the end of it, you will be able to see right through it, the white right through it. If we close it, there is a little ball that turns shutting off the flow of water. This is a cut away model of a ball valve. You’ll have one pipe coming in one side and another pipe going out the other side. If you turn the handle, you will notice that a ball is starting to turn in the center of it and this will restrict that flow of water. "
