Summary: Learn how to a cover plate for a leaky bathtub faucet by watching this series of free home improvement videos from our home repair expert.
"Hi this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village in this video clip we will be installing our new cover plate. I purchased these new trim cover pieces for our faucet and when you go out and purchase your you want to make sure that again if you have a couler faucet your purchasing couler handles, and couler trim pieces. If you purchase a different brand there's a very good chance that's not going to fit. The installation of these is similar to the installation of our other components, you'll go ahead and slip them over and start to rotate them and they should go on pretty easily. Now you want them tight but you don't to get them to tight because the tighter you have them the more it pulls all of that plumbing works forward, so you just want them to be good and snug. Now you make notice when you tightened one the other one gets a little bit loose. And now that's again thats because it's bringing that plumbing forward so you want it to be snug and not to tight."

on 8/2/2008 You need to remember to put some plumbers putty behind the cover plates or caulk around them after. If not you can have a small amount of water get in the wall every day. Not enough to notice, just enough to cause rot and mold!
