Series Summary

You may have convinced yourself that your leaky faucet really doesn't bother you. All you have to do is run a fan at night to block out the drip-drop sounds and you go right to sleep. Or do you? Perhaps you don't hear the sound anymore, but the idea that you are avoiding the problem continues to nag you as if the water torture had moved inside of your head. Getting a plumber to come fix the problem would cost a fortune and you don't know a thing about faucet repair. So where does that leave you? Miserable, that's where, every bit as much of a drip as the drops falling into your bathtub. That is unless you take some initiative and learn how to fix the faucet yourself.

Our home repair expert Jon Olsen will talk you through every step of the bathtub faucet repair process. In concise and easy-to-follow free videos he demonstrates how to turn off your water main, then remove handles, trim and collars from the faulty faucet. In no time at all, you'll have that drip-drop cured and then you can go back to sleeping soundly again.

You are full of sh*t. Using a deep well socket is good. But cutting off the stem is a waist of money. Instead of replacing a $.20 rubber washer you have ruined the stem which will require a $15 to $20 dollar stem assembly. You should have used a vise grip pliers or pipe wrench on the socket and save a lot of money. You have a B.S. in BS.

Video Transcript

"Hi this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village in this video clip we will be diagnosing our problem. We have a bathroom here that is set up with an older style faucets, now over the years this faucet has develop a leak which has gotten progressively worst. My initial diagnosis is that the rubber o-rings inside the faucet handles which help form some tight seal have broken down over the years or have become cracked or damaged. In these series of videos clips we're going ahead and replace all our components since the leak is there and our components are old, it is not really cause effective to a put lot of time in just replacing those o-rings and then having to replace something else 3 months or 6 months down the road.
