" Hi! This is John on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this video clip, I will be talking about welding too hot and welding too cold. As you set your amperage for welding, a good weld bead should turn out like this one. I like to think that it looks kind of like a caterpillar. If you have your amperage set too high, there is a good chance that you will blow through your metal and there will also be a lot of spatter. If you have your amperage set too low, the weld won’t penetrate the metal and the bead will actually just sit right on top of the metal and it will definitely not look very good. Now again on our good weld bead, you will notice that it has a nice convex surface. There are nice straight lines. This weld bead is what it will look like when the slag is still on top of it and as you run a weld bead, when you finish, it will look like this one."
