Video Transcript

"Hi! This is Jon from expertvillage.com. In this video clip, I will be talking about proper clothing and and personal protective equipment when using metal shears. First off you want to make sure that you are not wearing any loose clothing; as you can see, my jacket here is fairly snugged. This will help prevent it from being caught in and moving parts of the equipment. I recommend using a strong pair of welding gloves to handle all the material. The metal can be very sharp before and after it comes off of the shear. In addition, I recommend wearing a good pair of leather shoes. This will help protect you in case any metal happens to fall off the press and hit you. One of the most important personal protective equipment devices that you will need is a good pair of safety glasses. When you go to purchase safety glasses, you need to make sure they are Z87 approved."
