"Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip we will be detecting wood studs. When detecting wood studs, the first thing we need to do is set our stud finder to wood to tell it that we are in fact going to be detecting wood studs. Different studs have different materials in them obviously between wood and metal and you'll get an inaccurate reading if it's not set correctly. First we're going to go ahead and calibrate our stud finder. Next we're going to slowly move it across our wall. Now, there's going to be a target that's going to appear when we get close to a stud and those bars are going to move in until we get right to the edge and it'll give us a sound. There it is and there's the other edge of our stud. Now, you'll want to mark both edges of your stud and then as I move further away that target gets further away. Now you always want to double check your stud by moving in the opposite direction. Just to verify that that stud is actually there, you don't want to poke a hole in the wall just because an inaccurate reading told you to do so."
