"Hi! This is John and now we will be talking about the correct way to strike a piece of wood to make a piece of firewood. What you do not want to do is hit it cross grain, which is like this. What you will need to be doing is hitting it with the grain, just like that. You hit this enough times or you use your splitting device which will get into in a few moments and this wood will split out. Hitting it cross grain will just dull your ax and you will not be able to split the wood."
