" Hi! This is John on behalf of Expert Village. Today I would like to talk a little bit about firewood; anything to do with a fire in firewood we will be discussing. First I would like to tell a bit about different types of wood. First, here is a typical pine. You will notice that the bark has different shapes to it; not very much like the oak that we have here. You really want to stay away from using pine in your fireplace. The main reason is you can build up creosote or soot in your chimney that can cause a fire. The best wood that you need to work with is oak, which is right here or any type of hardwood such as hickory or walnut. Ordinarily, most people use oak which is seasoned."
