"Hi, I'm John Guion from Bell Nursery for Expert Village. We are going to help you prepare your garden for Winter today. Today we have some Hosta's and grasses. We are going to show you how to cut back to ensure that they survive the Winter. You have the grass you are pruning back so that the new growth comes up does not complete with the old grass or you are pruning it now because you would like for that look to be cut back and not have the riskiness of the dead grass leaves right now. Now with Hosta's, you are pruning back just because it would look a lot better. You don't want the dead decomposing leaves to just lay there in the garden but I would not prune this one back yet as the plant still looks good, it is pulling back the energy from the leaves and then in a couple of weeks, it will be ready for pruning back.
