"Hi I'm Drew Finn here for Expert Village we are going to talk about standard hand tools and how to use them. In tape measure there is different types that pull out they all usually have a locking device. This one happens to be at the bottom when you push it, it comes back in, a number of them has a locking device here for your thumb. On the scale as we had on the other one we have a mark at the 16 inch one but this one also has it highlighted a each foot the 2 foot and the 1 foot measure. So that is easy when you are measuring for different framing. No with every interesting thing for these you might think it is a defect but the little metal thing slides back and forth. That is for if you are measuring from a edge out it stretches one way for a measurement, if you are doing the other way and you push it in and it gives you a exact measurement for each side of the thickness of the hook that is on there. They also mostly have a little notch here so you could hook it on a corner fairly easily and so that is a basic tape measure. "
