"Hi! I'm Drew Finn and I am here for expertvillage.com. I am a professional home inspector and I am going to show you how to install a ceiling fan today. The pre-blade assembly will do next. There is a protective ring on this one so we just have to remove the screws and take that protective ring off. Now we've got the protective ring off, we are going to put the blades on, we've got the screws and what you want to do is insert one screw. We will be doing this up on the ceiling. I am just showing you how this goes together now. We will put one screw in first and align it in the hole and tighten it up; just slightly; We don't want to snug it down. We have to make sure we can align the other hole. So we've got another hole right here. So once we get both screws in semi-snug, I switch with a Phillips to a flat screw driver so we can snug them down. We want to put a fair amount of torque on it but don't break the screws off. So that is what we will be doing. Once we've got the whole fan assembly mounted on the ceiling, we put the blades on last but I wanted to show you the detail here because it is going to be a little hard to see when we are up there. "
