" Hi I am Drew Fendy, master home inspector. I have been inspecting for over 24 years. Today we are going to describe how to install an electrical receptacle for Expertvillage.com. Okay, mark out where the box is so we can cut in. We know where the studs are. We found them before and marked them on the wall so we are going to situate the box here. Now we make sure it is vertical and we do not want it to be crooked later. So you can use the leveler or if you are really good eye, you can set it up and mark the edges where we have got to cut through and here we do not get all the way through so I just use this as a template. Okay, so we will be taking the center portion out, insert that in there. Cut straight up the other corner that will come out and we can cut this way too. We fit the box in, perfect fit, ready to go."

on 8/2/2008 You make cutting out the hole for an electric box look so easy, but everytime I tried it the hole was either lopsided or not level. I recently ran across a set of tools that solved my problems and might be of interest to your viewers.
I use my spiral saw a lot and these tools are template kits made to guide a spiral saw for making cut ins for electric boxes and also for speakers. They work great and include a built in level so that even I can do professional looking work.
