"Hello, my name is Grady Johnson and I'm a professional painter. Today I represent expertvillage.com. Now we're going to talk about rolling. We've cut in the wall and we're ready to roll it. Now when you're rolling with oil paint, roll as you go. Now for the purposes of this video I've broken this into two sections. You do want to cut everything in before you roll, but after you've cut in a wall go ahead and roll it and then work your way down the wall that way. Now we've cut everything in really good and we're just going to go ahead and roll it. And I like to do this as I go along. Cut it in and then roll it and that way everything stays nice and wet. That's why when I go ahead and do this then I'll drop back to cutting afterwards. Cut in the next wall then roll it and just continue all the way around the room. Don't cut everything in, take a long time, wait for everything to harden up and then go back and roll. Work a wall and then go to the next one okay, cut it in and then roll it. But I broke it into two sections so we could see how it could work. So what I want to do is go ahead and start with a good full roller of paint and I get my roller pole because I always use a roller pole and then I screw that into my frame. And then I just fill that up with paint. And you see here how this little line is kind of sticking out on the edge? That means the nap slid a little bit, so just tap that down. That happens as you go along. And that way it's even. You don't want to leave any globs of paint because when those harden up they look ugly. So I'm going to go ahead and start in this corner and work my way across and then bring up the bottom. And then I'm going to go ahead and use this little step ladder and get myself up top there. Alright, well let's go ahead and the main thing we want to do is keep a nice even line so that the texture remains the same. Once I have it there, then I can work it. Now you can see I'm feathering that edge out and bringing it on down. Now you can see that rough edge right there, that's pushing that paint on the wall for me and that other edge is feathering it out so I'm not leaning on that side. Remember you always want to feather out any marks that you left on the wall and that's going to make it look beautiful. Well this wall's all done. Now I'm going to go ahead and move around the rest of the bathroom. These are just a couple of the things you want to keep in mind whenever you're rolling the walls in oil paint."
