"Hello! My name is Grady Johnson and I'm a professional painter. And today I'm representing expertvillage.com. Well, now it's time to go ahead and cut in our ceiling. Now, when you're cutting in a ceiling, you do want to be sure and lap it down just a little bit. You don't want paint running down the wall. But you want to lap it over a little bit so that when you put the line into it from the wall, you can go ahead and cut a nice edge. That way we don't have any gaping spots or holidays on the ceiling. Now what a holiday is is a place that you do miss. So you want to cut it in all the way around the room. Now, if you have a light in the middle of the room or if you do have something like a ceiling fan, be sure you cut that in first and then cut around the edges. Now, when your patting your brush, stick your brush in the paint. Get some paint on there and then push that paint onto the side of your bucket. Now by doing this pat back and forth like this, you're pushing that into the brush. Now look at it I'm holding this brush and not a drop is dropping off. Now that's very different then when I just stab it in there and I hold it like this. So if I pat that brush like this on the sides, that's going to let that hold into the brush and not drop down. Then, I'm going to go ahead and put that into my corner. I go ahead and get as close as I can to the work so that I'm comfortable and start working my way around the ceiling. Alright now, you want to get a little more paint on there to kind of even that out. There we go. Alright, great. Now I've kept that edge wet as I'm going along. Now, I'm going to go ahead and bring up the rest. So we're go to go ahead and bring up the other side now. Now when you're doing this, you going to want to go ahead and run that all along. Now be sure you get this line right here along the edge completely painted. That's the most important part because that's what we're going to cut into. Now, I'm a pretty fast painter, so I'm going to bring this other side back behind me too and I'm going to get that as well and then, be sure to even out these corners a little bit. Now the thing to remember is that when your brush goes on the wall, it's going to leave a mark. When it comes off the wall, it's going to take that mark off. So you lap everything off so that it doesn't leave any marks. Well, I'm going to go ahead and carry this on around and cut in the rest of the wall. But this is how you cut in an interior ceiling. "
