"Hi, I'm Doug Smiddy of Smiddy's Gardening Services here on behalf of expertvillage.com. Today we are here to talk about starting your plants from seeds. Okay, we are going to talk a little bit more about the seed packets today. There is a lot of information on the back of them and that is really really important that you pay attention to them. Not just the planting depth and the spacing but they will usually tell you when to plant. And they will say something to the effect, like this one does, start inside six to eight weeks before placing them outside. Pay attention to that. The reason you want to is if you start them way early you are going to end up with these really tall, lanky plants that are very stemy. They are not going to transplant well and if they go through all that stress early in their life the are not going to produce the flowers or the fruit, vegetables, what ever it is your growing. So again if it says start them six to eight weeks before you put the outside or four weeks or ten weeks, whatever it may be for that given plant, please pay attention to it. It's really important that you do. "
