"WILLIE: Hi, my name is Willie. I'm from Carson Saw Shop here in Eugene, Oregon and I've been sharpening tools here for 25, 30 years and I'm here with Expert Village today. Now, I have a Marples wood chisel, which is a good quality wood chisel. I'm going to show how it's sharpened. Basically, it's just a 1-inch flat chisel so I'm going to try to cut it nice and square and clean. I can use this side of the wheel and just go back and forth on it. Observe what I'm doing. I've got a little bit more grind here than here, so now I'll put more pressure to this side. You just have to keep an eye on what you're doing and know when to quit. Looks like it's pretty square now, so, I'd say that's a completed one. Okay, once you have it sharp like this on a grinder, a lot of times you could have, either a hone stone or a wet stone, and you can finish it by just going back and forth on it, breaking that wire edge off to get a nice, perfectly clean cutting edge. Check it with your fingers. Make sure that it doesn't have any burr hanging on it. There it feels real, real smooth so it's perfect, ready to go."
