"Hi, my name is Fred Carson and I'm from Carson Saw Shop in Eugene, Oregon. I've been sharpening tools for over thirty years and I'm here with Expert Village. Ok, here we got a double edged axe to grind. We're going to put a bevel on both sides of both blades. This ones got some pretty big knicks in it. This is for actually chopping trees down a few years back before the came up with the chainsaw. Ok, we're going to use a grinder. And we're going to grind back and forth here. Until we see the edge come up. We don't want to press too hard because you end up getting, you end up burning the steel and if you do burn the steel it will make it quite a bit softer. So you got to be careful on how much pressure you apply to the grinding wheel. We have a grinding wheel that's going about three thousand rpms. Now we got to flip over to the other side. And do the same thing you did on the opposite side. You want to be sure you're not getting things too hot. You got water to dip it in. We missed a little corner here so we go back over on the opposite side here. Look for a little wire edge coming up there. Good. Slow that thing down and then you get a little hone stone out. Just go back and forth on there. These hone stones are pretty useful tools. Sharpen lots of little knives, axes, lots of household items. It's looking good. Check it and see if you can shave the hairs off there. That's pretty sharp. We're looking good. That's how you sharpen an axe. You have an axe to grind."
