"Hi! This is Kathy with City of Santa Barbara Water Resources for expertvillage.com. We are back looking at the meter again and what we are doing is looking for a leak. This meter has a leak indicator and I am going to point it out. It's this black triangle. If you notice, it is moving ever slow slowly; watch one of those points. As it turns it goes counter clockwise and that is indicating that there is water running through this meter somewhere. Whether it is a leak that is what we are hoping its not, but you know the next thing to do before we assume it is a leak is walk around. Make sure every single hose is turned off, make sure you are not doing laundry, no one is taking a shower, there's not a sink that is still trickling and repair all of those things and then come back and use your meter, it's a great tool. It's the only way you are going to see if there is actually water running through your pipes somewhere even if it is underground. There comes the trick, try and find where underground it is but the majority of leaks are in your toilet or there is a hose that is left on to be honest. So let's see what we can do. Right now, we've got water running. We are going to take a walk around the property and through the house and see if we can determine what we can do to fix this. "
