" Hi! My name is Chad Smith and I'm a state certified Journeyman Wireman basically a electrician and I'm here today with expertvillage.com. We are putting a new doorbell in this house. Now we have already went through a couple of steps we have shut the power off, we have got our tools ready and we have taken the old switch off. Now the old switch we took off was in really bad shape so the wires that were connected to it was in pretty bad shape also. Now this is kind of a extreme situation and we hope you don't run across this when you do your doorbell. But this lead or these wires are actually very short and very fragile so we have to be really careful with them and prepare them properly to install the new doorbell. So what we need to do to prepare the wire for the new switch is earlier today when I have showed you the tools that we are going to need we had a pair of pliers and I said I don't know if we would use these but we would see. Well we are going to need those. So what you want to do next is you want to take and grab the short lead with the pliers and just give a little light tug on it to see if you could get more wire. Now you would see I got just a like a 1/8 of a inch which doesn't sound like much but it is more then enough what we are doing here okay. Now this one is definitely long enough which you would notice the jacket is really fray and torn. The reason why we are preparing this is we don't want these wires to touch each other, it won't short out, it won't make a mess, but what it would do it would activate your doorbell and your doorbell would be going off all day and you won't know what happen and you think people are at your door. So what we need to do to prepare these wires is we basically just take some black electrical tape. You could get this anywhere at any hardware store, or any home improvement store its just black electrical tape and what we are going to want to do is pull off about this much of the tape that is really all what you would need. We are going to take a little tape around this one to protect it and then we should be ready to install our new doorbell so you see that I just made a little jacket around that tape that should be enough to keep those two from touching each other. So the next step is to actually to install the new doorbell. I'm Chad Smith and we are installing a new doorbell in this house."
