" Hi! My name is Chad Smith and I'm a state certified electrician and I'm representing expertvillage.com. Basically today we are installing a new doorbell and we are taking out the old doorbell and installing a new one. I'm going to go over some of the tools that you are going to possibly going to need when you install a new doorbell. You want to make sure that you have a good quality screwdriver. Now this screwdriver I have here is called a 5 in 1 and if you look at as a Philip tip and it has the flat tip. Now a good 5 in 1 is good to have around the house that way you don't have to multiple screwdrivers. Now in this screwdriver also you notice that it has a smaller version on the other side of a Philip tip or a flat head. So we are definitely going to need this today have a good quality screwdriver on hand at all times. We are also going to need to have this on hand because you might need to clear the jacket off the wire or something like this, just have a nice utility knife. Make sure you don't do what I did the other day and almost cut your finger off and you are going to basically just a pair of pliers encase you need to cut the wire and you notice on these, these have the cutter right on the side of it. These are good set of pliers to have also. The next tool we are going to use today also and this is vitally important to have this, this is a tester. Basically what this does it this test if you have the power at the place where you working. What you don't want to have when you are doing electrical work. Since we are working on electricity today I'm going to stress on this a little bit just make sure you get yourself a nice good tester to make sure that the power is off so you don't grab the wires and get electrocuted. It is good to have this around the house because for more then just installing the doorbell today you need a meter if you want to change a outlet or change a lamp post or a lamp base or anything like that you need a good quality meter to tell if the power is on or not. We are also going to need today a pair what these are these are strippers and you would notice on here you would notice that there is holes. On each one of those holes there is a number next to it basically what that is is that is the wire gage. Now today's project we are basically going to be working with 14 gage wire and 16 or 18 gage wire now don't let that scare you its just wire. But you would also notice if you miss up it has jaws that cut the wire to you are going to need this today to do this project plus it is always good to have one of these a pair of strippers in your junk drawer cause you never know what you are going to run into. You could use a power drill but I don't but you really don't need it for this project but again any homeowner should have a nice power drill around the house they come with the tips you know you could shot screws with it or you can drill holes it is just nice to have a nice power drill. Now I brought all my tools we're are definitely going to have to use all of them but it is nice to have them near you just encase you do need to use them and I'm Chad Smith lets go install a new doorbell.
