"Hello, my name is Amelia Tallman on behalf of expertvillage.com. We are here today talking about changing out some window dressings. We had curtains in here and at the recommendation of designer we are going to go with blinds instead that fit inside the windows. This is to help create more space in the room by not having curtains that stick out from the wall that is an already very narrow room. The first thing we need to do is measure the windows and we are going to do inside mount blinds so you have to be really accurate with your measurements. You want to go ahead and do your measurement at the top of the window because that is actually where it is going to hang rather than at the bottoms. There is sometimes a little bit of inconsistencies especially in older work. Sometimes especially if it is a larger windows it is good to have a second person to help. Now most standard blinds when you buy them the size that they say they are is actually a half inch larger than they actually are so this being 58 ¾ in width we'll probably look for a blind that is 59 inches. Now I am going to take you to other smaller windows and we will just repeat this process. This window is 46 ¾ . So on that one we will probably look for a 47 inch. This is an older window and a lot of interesting wood work was gone on it. It is 36 ¾ inches which is in my finding not a very standard size window so we might have to look around for something that will actually fit right in that window. Now whenever we are taking measurements you want to write them down right away. It is also a good idea to take a vertical measurement especially on unusual size windows. Often times with blinds that are standard length, you can adjust them which we will talk about later but it is good to have a length in there as well or height in here and measurements as well because sometimes you can find different heights of blinds.
