" In painting my walls, I’ve come across an issue that I need to deal with, and that is this 220 volt outlet. We used to have the washing machine and the dryer upstairs and we’ve moved it to the basement. This can’t come out, and we probably wouldn’t want it to because if we ever resold the house someone might want to move the washer and dryer back upstairs. On the suggestion of my interior designer Craig, he said just paint it out; just go over it. This is not a high traffic area, so it should not scrape; the paint shouldn’t scrape off. I’m going to give it a couple of coats, and that way instead of having this khaki camel color with the white outlet, that’s very blatantly obvious. It’ll just be the same color, and people won’t even notice it. There’s a couple of other things I’m going to do like that as well, which I’ll show you. Now, I’m also going to cut in with paint on my trim. I have a kind of a weird trimmed out window here, where with my handy dandy tape measure; I figure out that I have 11 1/16 of space here. Yet on this side, I only have 2 1/16. So I’m going to mark this out this direction. 2 1/16. I’m going to come up here though, and then also mark it at the bottom. Then I’m going to take my paint tape. I’m going to take my 2 markings, go on the inside of them, press my tape down, go a little bit in here so I want to be absolutely concise there. Then I’m going to take…We’re painting this wall red…I’m going to take my red paint and go over the whole entire trim, so that when it dries and I pull off this tape, this distance will match the same distances as this here and here, and that way it will look more concise and perfect like it should.
