"This is a plug tester, these lights light up when there's power to the plug. It tells you what the problem is if there's a problem. It shows you what's correct, they have a little code on there a little legend and it'll tell you if the hot and ground are reversed or whatever. It'll tell if it's live that way you know you just plug it in and you see it lights up and you go okay, I got to go turn the power off. So it's pretty handy and actually extremely important. This is just a normal voltage tester. This voltage tester just basically gives you a reading just basically says, okay there's power here. If it's not a plug or something and you need to test if it's live, you just touch the wires together with this and it'll jump up."
