"So this is where we are going to put the new outlet. I have a stud running down along here or you can find your studs with a stud finder. In an older house a lot of times you can see the nail line running down the wall where they nailed the sheet-rock to it but which in this case I couldn’t see. So I just drilled a little hole here since I am going to be cutting a big hole anyways it doesn’t matter. I drilled a little hole here and the stud is just on the right side of this hole. You got to think about what kind of power box you are going to use to install. A lot of them have nail holes that run like this. You don’t want that because in a wall that already exists there is no way to nail nails inside. So you got this style so what we are going to do is cut a hole in the wall here and just shimmy this nail box over to the right. We might have to cut away the drywall there to fix it which will be fine. Obviously there is going to a lot of patchwork that is going to happen in this room anyways with the blowing insulation holes. This is what you want to do. You are going to flip it over, draw off the line of your power box and then use a tool such as a jigsaw to cut the hole. "
