Victorian style homes were built in the late 1800's. Predominately made of wood they are highly decorative and focus much on the detail of their design. Many of these homes were painted white, not because white was a desired color but because during the recession of the economy at that time colored paint was very expensive and hard to come by. Restoring one of these homes is usually no easy task. Many times the beauty of the house is hidden beneath layers of paint, carpeting or even above the ceiling. So before you count these great houses out take a bit of time and look at the possibilities in front of you.
In this great video clip series our expert will explain everything she did to restore her 100 year old Victorian home as well as give you pointers and tips on how to do a lot of the tasks yourself and even how to decorate it. You will be able to see the massive work that was put into this home but also the wonderful benefits of the labor!
"Hi I'm Betty Ingham and I'm speaking on behalf of Expert Village and I would like to talk to you today about restoring an old victorian home. My husband and I bought this home 8 1/2 years ago we had no idea about anything victorian style also we studied before we began the project. We knew we wanted to copy the style as much as we could so we researched the paint colors, we researched the widow's walk. We went to other towns we drove around to see what kinds of paint, how they restored there's widows walk. My husband did restore the widow's walk he is welder so he welded back on."
