"Hi! I'm Bobby on behalf of Expert Village. In this series I am going to show several different ways that you could easily light a fire within your fireplace and I am going to show you several techniques and things that you need to be aware of when lighting a fire in your house. Some of the items that you are going to need to start a fire might be one of these artificial pieces of firewood. There is a smaller piece of artificial firewood that is used to actually start the fire so perhaps you had a larger chunk of wood that you wanted to start, that is real easy. Just light the ends with that. Here is our main firewood that we are going to burn, that's Oak. You will need some kindling which is what I have here. Usually you want your kindling to be a soft wood like Pine. You don't want to use a lot of the kindling because it burns up unto the chimney and it has creosote buildup. Then of course a lighter. I like these ones with a long neck on it so that you can get in there and start the fire but you want run the risk of burning your hands. It is also nice to have a good set of fire tools. I've got this set here. It has a dill to turn the logs over if I need. It has that, a shovel and a brush. You can go to the store and find probably a million different variations of this but this is your basic tools."
