We are going to talk a little bit about tires in this clip. The tires are basically in two different sizes, you have front tires and you have rear tires. The tires here are, these are MG Yellows, and they are probably the most popular brand around here. These tires last a long time, they are good all the way through the tire. We have different compounds of tires, and it has to do with how hard the rubber is. Sometimes they use tires, they spec tires at a race and you have to use their particular tires. One of the well known brands is Bridgestone and they spec a lot of Bridgestone tires to use. There's a couple of different compounds of it also. The tires generally last a long time but when you are racing you want the optimal performance so when you are actually racing you generally put a new set of tires on. You can practice on the old tires. They have wear indicators that are little divots in the tire, and that tells you how much tread you have left in the tire. And also when you get down so far then they go to cord and you have no tire at all left. Tires give you different adhesion factors and one of the big things about the adhesion of the tires and changing the adhesion is how much air pressure you use. Generally in karting we run any where from about eight to twenty-four pounds of air pressure. And depending on the tracks you go to and the grip of the track itself.
