" Hi, this is Tommy from Expert Village and we will be talking about helmets today. The racing helmet has to be a Snell 2000 or better approved helmet. The Snell approval should be either on the back where it says Snell or if it's not in there, it's inside the helmet under the padding and they will check it at all your races. Helmets come in many different sizes, many different cost ranges, the Zamp helmet is probably one of the cheaper brands and they run about ninety-nine dollars. The helmet that I actually wear is a Bell X-Gx GTX and it runs about six hundred dollars and then when you got a put a six hundred dollar paint job on it, you have a quite expensive helmet. It's all in the looks; you know some of the helmets feel and wear better than other ones. Golly, you need to be very careful about fit of a helmet. The helmet should be tight, but not too tight and should not have any pressure points that would give you a headache or anything. A lot of the helmets come in different materials, as far as composites and Kevlar and stuff like that and basically it's the weight differences. The differences in weight can be quite dramatic because when you're pulling up to almost three Gs, that means a ten pound helmet or a 3.3 pound helmet would weigh ten pounds and on your head that's doubling the weight of your head so it's quite a difference in your G-forces and your neck gets very sore."
